One

It seriously has been a year since my sweet L has come into our lives.  I still remember like it was yesterday.  I know that right now as I type this it is 730AM, I know that at that time a year ago they had just started pitocin only about an hour before and I was already dilated to 6.  I know that they were trying to get the epidural to work because it wasn't and I was in so much pain and still in a mental battle with myself for even choosing to get an epidural in the first place because going in to it I didn't want one.  I was so excited to meet my little guy that none of that mattered just that each minute was one closer to finally seeing his sweet face!

This year has flown by and looking back seems like it was so long and so much was accomplished.  I raised a child to be a year old, and kept my sanity in the process.  Not only did I raise him for a year but he is happy and saying words and building towers with blocks, things that big boys do...and this is just another confirmation that he is a big boy now and not a sweet little baby anymore.  He makes me laugh daily actually several times a day he is so funny and I can just hear the calls I am going to get from his teachers one day because I am sure he will be Mr. social and the class clown.  He loves to be out and with people he loves playgroup and seeing his friends.

He loves to rough house with daddy but is a mommas boy through and through and I LOVE it.  He is a cuddle bug and I hope that never fades. Last night he was having a rough night, the exhaustion from a short nap was getting to him and he was hungry too and the whole way in the car that we were going to pick up dinner he was having a melt down  screaming fit.  when we got home I fed him and was holding him and every soften he would look up at me then tilt his head to rest it on my shoulder.  It was so sweet and melted my heart every time he did it.

We have had so much fun with him and I know it has just begun.  I am so blessed that God chose me to be his mommy and I pray every day that he guides me in the huge responsibility of raising him to be a respectful, honest and loving christian man.

I am sad that this first year is over I faintly remember his tiny body snuggled against mine now he sill snuggles but he is so big.  I know this first year is going to be a fun one, he is going to say more words and start walking and running and I just can't wait to see his personality develop and shine.

So here is to a day of celebration! A day of starting new memories and birthday traditions.  Here is to the sweetest little boy I know, my sweet L!

This is the birthday boy waking up this morning!

Mothers Day 2012

This year was my first REAL mothers day as last year I looked like this:

Unfortunately the hubby and I both had to work this weekend.  We were off on Saturday together so even though I worked friday night I just took a little nap so we could get out and enjoy the day we had together.  We ended up going to church on Saturday night and they were handing out free roses and taking family portraits, which I don't have yet.  After church we went to get ice cream at marble slab and then went home to relax

On actual mothers day Hubby had to go to work at 630am and I had to teach sunday school so me and L went to church and then came home to sleep since I had to work that night.  The hubs got me some really pretty flowers, a super sweet card and a "mommy" charm for my James Avery charm bracelet.  It was very low key but a sweet little mothers day considering our circumstances.

This is his face when we tell him to say "Cheese!!"
I put L in this cute little bubble that Hubby hates but I adore!! He was at work and it was mothers day so I made the call on his clothing, plus he got tons of compliments from the old ladies at church!!

I also have to make a shout out to my mom and my gram, they are such amazing women that have taught me so much to be the mom and woman that I have become and I can't thank them enough. I cherish the relationship we have and pray that I will one day have a daughter to share in such a relationship as well.

Tid Bits

I guess I took a bit of a blogging break, I was just apathetic about it and was feeling like I had way too much going on at home that when I did have a few free moments I just wanted to lay down and chill and not be on the computer.

- I can not seriously believe my little boy will be 1 this month!!! How on earth did time fly so fast, I can remember this tine last lear like it was yesterday still.

- I signe dup to do this Color Run in New Orleans this year and will FOR SURE be signing up for the one in Austin next year!! It looks like so much fun and my gram and I are going to do it together.  I love that she is so fun and active and that we get to spend these times together, it is something I will never ever forget!!

- I think I am an official crockpot failure.  Seriously though in the last month I have tried  probably 5 different recipes and they were all gross...no flavor or dry or overcooked.  I don't know what gives!!

- I recently received the newest Pioneer Woman Cookbook and I can't wait to get started there are so many yummy recipes in that thing!!

- I am deep into birthday party planning and I have so many ideas I want to execute but a great fear that the whole party will not be as fabulous as I am imagining!

- L has lost all interest in all his toys, I am at a loss as to what to do with him.  All he wants to do is get into the DVD's and shred paper and search for outlets basically do anything he isn't supposed to do.  When I tell him no and try to redirect him he just speed crawls right back to what he was doing.  Am I doing something wrong here?  I have even tried cycling his toys ...doesn't matter...I pull him away from what he is doing and he throws a fit end of story.  I have a feeling the toddler years are going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!

And on that note...my time here is up...

Just a day in the park

The weather here has been so gorgeous lately I wish it could stay like this all year long!! I can wear long sleeves and pants in the evening and summer clothes during the day, I love it.  We have taken full advantage of the weather too as it won't be like this for long!!

My lil guy could swing and swing he just loves it!! I love that when I push him he likes to go high and just giggles and kicks his legs and screeches with excitement the higher he goes, he is going to be my little daredevil Im sure and will probably stop my heart more than once with his tricks.

If I try to take him out before HE is ready he will throw a little tantrum, not that I condone that but it makes me chuckle a little bit inside.

Easter Weekend 2012

So this was Landon's first easter and I was so excited about this.  Growing up easter was always one of my favorite holidays, I have so many good childhood memories about easter.  I remember waking up to eggs hidden throughout the house and then we would get to wear a new fancy outfit and we usually went to the easter sunrise service which at one location of our lives was in a B52 which was so cool.  So, easter is holiday that means a lot to me in regards to the whole meaning of easter as well as the fun other stuff such as easter baskets, family, and adorable spring clothes.

This year my parents came in town and we had such a fun weekend just hanging out and visiting, Landon has changed so much in the last three months since they saw him last so it was fun.

Mr. Peacock was putting on a show for us

We even colored eggs on saturday night using koolaid since our grocery store was out of dye kits

On sunday we went to church then at the second service helped out with sunday school, they had a christian illusionist there for the kids and it was pretty entertaining.  After church we had lunch and then my parents went home and me and the family took a nap then went on a walk.  It was such a fun and simple little easter sunday but so much fun!

The easter bunny came to visit landon

I loved his easter outfit, PersonaliTy Childrens Clothing it was such great quality and I love his big monogram on the front even though its hard to see in these pictures

10 months

L turned 10 months on March 24th and with that seems to have turned from my baby to a little boy!

He is growing like crazy and is now in 12-18months size in a lot of his clothes and 6-12m in other brands

We put him in the regular tub now because we were spending the whole bath time keeping him from climbing out of his blow up tub and I think he likes the freedom of the big tub but now his favorite past time is throwing everything out of the big tub...once all the toys are on the floor bath time is over :)

We also had to lower his crib finally to the lowest setting as he is now sitting and pulling up in his bed.  He has also had a snack of side rail a few times as the one side is all chewed up, I will be buying those rail guard things today!!

On the mention of cribs...the boy is napping. In. His. CRIB it is a major milestone around here as this has been the biggest battle we have had to deal with yet! I can lay him down between 10-11am and he will usually sleep a good 2-3 hours, its amazing!!  Usually afternoon naps are hit or miss but thats ok, he is still sleeping 12 hours at night which is also glorious!!

Food is going better too, in the morning usually about an hour after he nurses he will have oatmeal, yogurt and a waffle or banana.  He is basically done with babyfood and is mostly getting all finger food.  He likes crackers, sweet potato fries, fruit, carrots, and mac and cheese or plain noodles ( I use the kind in the purple box with a lot of protein and fiber in them).  I feel like I never know what to feed him so I usually just try him with what we are eating the other day he had chicken and grilled red peppers and loved it!! He is still nursing 4-6 times a day and is still only eating about 2 solid food meals a day

He is a crawler!! He is a crazy man now and has zero interest in his toys and 100% interest in the dvd's and paper shredder both of which will be removed from our main playing room.
He can clap, point, and is learning his body parts, he has also started to dance when he hears loud music.  HIs favorite is still kicking his feet like a mad man though!!

He is so much fun and I love seeing him learn all these new things and his big personality showing more and more each day!!

Girls Weekend

This past weekend my mom and I spent time at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, Tx which is right outside Austin.  The resort is so beautiful and very relaxing, if your willing to spend the money its a great place for a family weekend getaway as they have a really cool pool/beach and lazy river as well as tons of planned activities for kids.

Back to the story though.  My mom and I had run this 1/2 marathon two years ago before L was here and we had a great time so we wanted to do it again this year.  We had our trip planned far in advance and it was much anticipated.  As the trip neared I started getting a little anxious as I would be leaving L for the first time for more than just a night.  I prayed about it and knew this trip was much needed for my mental health and knew that God would be present at our home and L would be well taken care of by his daddy and grandparents.

Two days before our race hubby and I went to true movies and as the movie started I started to feel shaky and chilled, like big time.  On top of the fact that I had what felt like a sore/clogged milk duct.  I knew this was bad as I had mastitis before and by the time the movie ended I was so chilled and shaky I could hardly walk straight, I felt like death!!

There was no question I was running the race on Saturday we payed too much and I had trained and anticipated this, it was not a question.  I put a warm pack on and pumped like crazy and I even went and got L out of bed and put him in bed with me to just nurse to try to get the clog out.  I Still felt awful but by morning the fever had gone and I was just left with a lot of soreness.  I had no time to go to the Dr. as I was supposed to leave late morning so I tried The med clinic at our grocery store which after waiting an hour they inform me they don't treat mastitis...I was so annoyed I almost started crying right then but I called my Dr. and she put in a RX for me to pick up.

The redness and soreness stuck around for a few days but by Saturday morning I felt great and the race was ON!! I did ok, probably as good as my half assed training allowed but I actually did not bad on my time 2:12 which isn't close to my best time but it also wasn't my worst either!
post race

AFter the race we enjoyed free massages, free wine, and a day relaxing at the pool!! It was so good to get home to my sweet boy but I had a fantastic trip and really enjoyed a carefree, relaxing weekend with my momma!!
complete with smores!!

I'm Katie a 27 year old mommy and wife. Welcome to my blog where I will chronicle the happenings of my life as I find the balance between being both SAHM by day and CVICU nurse by night.

I love Jesus and strive to be more like Christ every day. Running, reading, and cooking are some of my favorite past-times. I love photography but I am no pro, but it helps I have such a cute subject to practice on!!
