Happy Halloween

not thrilled by the whole situstion

L celebrated his first halloween today!! I was ridiculously excited about this and I am not sure why because growing up halloween was never a big holiday and even now I am not a big halloween fan but I have always thought it would be so fun to dress my kids up and take them trick or treating and this year I no longer had to try and borrow a friends kid but I had my very own sweet baby to dress up and take trick or treating.
finally a smile!

with daddy

I know, its silly to take a 5 month old trick or treating but he had a freakin cute costume and really nowhere to wear it and we recently moved into our neighborhood so we figured why not.   Anyways, I need to replenish my candy stash for my night shift 2am slump...the other day at work I realized I eat a lot of candy when I am at work...totally off topic but whatever.

photo op with my sweet dragon

checkin out the candy
Also while I was trick or treating a fellow blogger The Crazy Castros recognized us which was kind of cool and I always think its fun to meet in person the people I follow/am friends with online!

L was a Dragon, he was totally NOT loving it! He refused to wear the hat which I expected but at least we were able to get some pictures!

5 months

My oh my how time flies! How am I the mom of a 5 month old!! I was looking back at pictures and it blows my mind how fast he has grown and how old he is looking!

Age: 5 Months
Weight: weighed him this weekend and he was about 17lbs 6 oz

Milestones: SCREAMING he has certainly found his voice and loves to use it he likes to scream and squawk and is always telling us about everything.  He has decided rolling is over rated and wont do it anymore, I have been putting him on his tummy more to hopefully help him develop more muscles for crawling and rolling.  He is also getting better at sitting and it shouldn't be long before he is sitting up more straight on his own.  He has been grabbing at stuff and playing with toys more too which I think is so cute!

Sleep:  Still kind of random.  I don't force any kind of sleep schedule on him I let him sleep when he is tired and not when I want him to.  He will sleep from 730 or 8 at night and will usually wake around 3 am and then up for the day around 630 or 7.  Sometimes he wakes around 1230 but I am hoping that will become less and less frequent.  He will also usually lay down with me and take one or two long naps one in the morning and one in the afternoon usually lasting 2-3 hours.

Eating:  Still exclusively breastfed, I am waiting till 6 months to start solids.  Breastfeeding has gotten so much easier I will do a post just on that here soon but I love that he can eat and be full in 5 minutes.  On the nights I work he will sometimes eat 5oz around 6 then another 6-7oz just before bed around 730 or 8 then will eat another 6oz when he wakes up in the nights and then 5oz at 630 or 7.

Likes: LOVES to be outside and go on walks, bath times, his jumperoo, books

Dislikes: being left alone in a room, being wet or dirty, getting his nose wiped...typical boy
taking a dive trying to get out of his boppy...no tummy time mommy!!!

What I'm wearing: moved to size 3 diapers for nighttime, most of 6m clothes are getting tight Im going to have to rotate to the 9m stuff.  6-9m clothes fit good too almost all 6m jammies are too short

lil punkin

Today we took L to the Pumpkin Patch here in our neighborhood.  In previous years I would look at my friends' photos of them and their little ones at pumpkin patches and could not wait for the day when I had my own little person to take to the pumpkin patches and take cute pictures and pick out pumpkins.

For some reason today the mosquitos were out in all their glory so I had to try and take quick pictures and swat the squitos away from my preshus bebe.

It was a fun time and cant wait to make this a yearly tradition

playtime

We have been busy gettin our play on around here!! L loves loves loves to be outside any time he is fussy, if we take him outside he usually will calm down for a good while.  Sometimes when we go on walks we will stop at the swings for a lil fun.

We also bought him a jumperoo thing, fisher price just came out with one called Animal Krackers and I love the colors on it and it has lots of lights which L loves! His feet touch perfectly and he loves all the lights and toys.  Im hoping it will give me some time to get some things done around here as he learns to self entertain a lil bit!!

loves to swing

Operation Get Organized::Phase 2

So If you remember here where I made my mail organizer I also had mentioned I was going to do a Home Organization Binder.  Well, I did, a long time ago.  I just forgot to post about it. So here we go

I started by looking around Pinterest to get some ideas and there were many which really helped inspire me and jump start my motivation.

I gathered my supplies:

Binder:
I got mine from Office Depot

Label Maker:
This thing is so much fun! Brother P-touch
Markers:
what better excuse to buy office supplies!
8 Dividers
Pages for each section

My Sections are:

Finance, Cleaning, Meals, Landon, Home Maint, Imp Info, Decor/Projects, Birth/Anni

Before any of the sections I have the Daily and weekly sheets, These are just like an overview sheet where I can gather my thoughts for the day or week and look at a glance to see whats going on or what I need to do

Finance- I bought these printables from an Etsy seller CleanMamaPrintables I know there are lots of free options on the internet but I looked through so many of them and these were what I wanted.  I liked that she had a check off sheet for each month once a bill has been payed.  I had a handwritten copy that I used and this one looked much cleaner.  Here is a glance of the three sheets that came with the package.  There is a check off sheet, a tracker for spending and a monthly budget sheet that is actually laid out kind of odd so I don't use it
Cleaning- I also purchased these cleaning sheets.  They have weekly, monthly and seasonal/deep clean check off lists.  I should use these more but I find many days I would rather be with my lil guy than cleaning so thats what I do.  I usually only clean if he decides to take a long nap and then its usually only the major stuff like kitchen and floors...one day maybe I can get a maid and not have to worry about it.

Meals- This section has my meal planning and recipe ideas.  I use a free printable sheet for the meal planning and groceries and then if I see a recipe I want to  make soon I stick it in here for easy access.

This is the printable I use:
http://www.theprojectgirl.com/2009/01/19/menu-planning-form-free-download/

Landon- This section has a sheet I typed for when people come to watch Landon with important info on his schedule, likes, dislikes etc to make the time smoother.  Also a blank sheet to track things he does, things I want to buy for him, or whatever

For the next few sections, I printed of sheets from this website Life...Your Way Printables

Home Maint- This section has a sheet to keep track of appliances, their warranty and any service that was done

Imp Info- This section has a sheet with important numbers which is good to have on hand so you don't need to do any googling in the case of an emergency as well as if we have a babysitter or something so they can have numbers easily accessible.  This section also has a sheet of passwords, I know your not supposed to write passwords down but seriously there is just so many I need to write some of them down

Decor/Projects- basically a blank sheet to write down and organize any current or soon to be projects.  I need to have stuff in print in front of my face so just referring to the internet wont work for me

Birth/Anni.- This has  sheet I printed to keep track of family birthdays and anniversaries so I can try and send cards and gifts in a timely manner

So far having this binder has been a great reference.  Its nice to have this information easily on hand and I recommend any family to make one of these and get organized.  I can also add or remove sections as our life and needs change.  I may add a vacation planning section and then as we have more kids and they start school we will need some different sections as well.

4 months

My Sweet boy turned 4 months on Saturday and I know I say this every month but I really can not believe it has been four months, then on the other hand time has flown by so fast I cant believe it has ONLY been 4 months, I cant imagine life without my boy it seems as if he has been with us forever.  I was looking back at his pictures last night and I just couldn't believe how much he has grown and looks so much older.

Age: 4 Months, (18 Weeks)
Weight: 16lbs (75%ile)
Length: 25 inches (75%ile)
Head: 17inches (75%ile)

Milestones: Oh man every day it seems as if he is doing something new, I just love it! He is much more interested in toys now and will purposefully grab things from your hands or off the ground etc.  He likes to tear the toys off his play mat, I will reattach them and he will rip them off.  He thinks everything is HILARIOUS.  Especially putting a shirt on his head or cleaning out his neck rolls he cracks up and its just the sweetest sound.  sucking on his thumb or first two fingers and the Dr said he is teething...joy my boobs cant wait for those razor teeth to bust through! He is sitting up better with support  and today I put him on his belly on a blanket and left the room, when I came back he had moved off the blanket...I think we may have a mover on our hands very soon!!

Eating: Still breastfeeding when I'm home with him and taking bottles for daddy when I'm at work.  He takes about 7oz before bed and then 5-6oz when he wakes up at night or in the AM before I get home from work, I think I am going to wait till 6 months before we start solids.  Still spits up a TON, i don't believe its reflux because he doesn't have the reflux symptoms just massive spit ups...i think its karma because my mom said I spit up a lot too

Sleep: Aye Aye Aye sleep is so erratic around here, I think it may be contributed to teething or this "4 month wakeful phase" whatever it is it sucks! Some nights he will sleep all night like 830pm-530am some nights he will only wake up at like 230 and then 530 or 630 and then some nights he wakes up at 1230, 430, 630.  I do the same thing every night.  He gets a bath I feed him then we put him in bed with his music and white noise.  Part of me loves getting up with him at night its like our sweet quiet moment that I get to cuddle his sweet sleepy self but then I also really want to sleep more than 3 or 4 hours at a time.  Im hoping this too shall pass, and in the mean time, coffee is my friend.

What I'm wearing: We use disposable diapers at night and those are still size 2, most of the clothing that fits is 6 months and a few 3-6months depending on the brand.  He also fits in the gerber 6-9 month sleep n plays now...he is getting too big!!!!

Likes: Still LOVES his play mat he likes to rip off the little toys I have hanging from the links and kick the side so it shakes and jungles. Likes to sit in his bebepod and play with the little toy it came with.  Loves to be outside and go on runs with mommy.  Getting his shirt changed, bath time

Dislikes: His car seat!! When mommy works, mommy's little green car (for some reason when we go in my car anywhere he cries the whole time, he hates it!)
my lil armadillo

I'm Katie a 27 year old mommy and wife. Welcome to my blog where I will chronicle the happenings of my life as I find the balance between being both SAHM by day and CVICU nurse by night.

I love Jesus and strive to be more like Christ every day. Running, reading, and cooking are some of my favorite past-times. I love photography but I am no pro, but it helps I have such a cute subject to practice on!!
