He's Here!

On Tuesday May 24,2010 Landon entered our lives and we are so in love!!!

He weighed in at 7lbs 13oz and was 20.5 inches...way bigger than I ever would have imagined, I don't know where he was hiding it all inside me because I sure didn't feel like I was
carrying a nearly 8lb baby!

The induction went great and once we get home I will post his birth story and some better pictures.

I'm feeling pretty good and baby is doing great as well

For now I'll leave you with a few camera phone pics until I can get home and post the good ones

not yet

well, no baby yet...Landon is apparently very obedient because he heard his due date was May 25 and he said he is not budging until then...well guess what lil bug...tomorrow is your eviction day...pack-'em up and move-'em out!!!

I go in tonight to get Cervadil to "ripen" the cervix since I'm only 1cm dilated and then tomorrow super early around 6 am they will start the Pitocin to get things moving.

Keep us in your prayers for a healthy baby and a fast and problem free delivery!!

Updates to come :)

Show Us Your Life Main Dish Recipes-Shrimp Pad Thai

I decided to participate this week with Show Us Your LIfe over at Kelly's Korner

One of my favorite recipes to make is this Shrimp Pad Thai recipe, its so easy and literally takes no time at all.  I found the recipe from myrecipes.com but I think it originally came from Cooking Light.  I have also shredded up cooked chicken and used that instead of shrimp.  I often use the thin rice noodles because my grocery store doesn't always carry the wide ones and we actually prefer it made with the skinny noodles.  Another change is I don't use bean sprouts I will use matchstick carrots instead, plus it adds more color I imagine you could substitute any kind of little vegetables if you have something else on hand

Shrimp Pad Thai

  • YIELD: 6 servings (serving size: 1 1/2 cups)
  • COURSE: Main Dishes
Ingredients
  • 8 ounces wide rice stick noodles (Banh Pho)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup fresh bean sprouts
  • 3/4 cup (1-inch) sliced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped unsalted, dry-roasted peanuts

PreparationPlace noodles in a large bowl. Add hot water to cover; let stand 12 minutes or until tender. Drain.
  • Combine ketchup, sugar, fish sauce, and pepper in a small bowl.
  • Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp; sauté 2 minutes or until shrimp are done. Remove shrimp from pan; keep warm.
  • Heat 4 teaspoons oil in pan over medium-high heat. Add eggs; cook 30 seconds or until soft-scrambled, stirring constantly. Add sprouts, green onions, and garlic; cook 1 minute. Add noodles, ketchup mixture, and shrimp; cook 3 minutes or until heated. Sprinkle with peanuts.

Sleep? sleep has been pretty good i still wake up 3-4 times a night to pee and i consistently wake up at 530-6 am everyday...i have no idea why, its kind of annoying though...it makes the days really LONG

Foods I am loving? Sprite, fruit, candy, cereal

Foods I am hating? nothing really

Movement? He has slowed down some and he has definite sleep wake cycles, movements have now become more stretching and pushing than his usual kicks and punches

What I miss? not having to pee every 30 minutes

What I'm looking forward to? finally meeting this baby!!

38w6d

I took this pic before work on the day I turned 38 weeks, last wednesday

How far along? 38 weeks 6 days ( I know I'm way behind this week and even though I will be 39 weeks tomorrow here we are with the 38 week post :)

Baby's size? about the size of a Leek

Weight Gain? 24-25 lbs

Maternity clothes? I don't have many clothes that fit comfortably anymore, I pretty much live in maxi dresses and lounge clothes, i have stuff that fits but when I sit they dig into my belly and its so uncomfortable

Stretch marks? not a single one

Belly button in or out? definitely out...we are DONE according to the belly button

Sleep? I love sleeping, although I wakeup about 4 or 5 times a night to pee because I get so thirsty that I drink water through the night this causes me to have to pee more, I try not to drink water but then all I can think about is how thirsty I am...I guess this will be good practice for once baby is here and I have to wake up that much anyways

Foods I am loving? Sprite, fruit, candy, cereal

Foods I am hating? nothing really

Best moment this week? my last day of work for 12 weeks

Movement? a wild man!! He moves A LOT.  I love feeling him move though

Symptoms? I have been having some cramping that feels like menstrual cramps and more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions, though none of them remain consistent and they aren't painful, also some days I have heartburn, but its so random I cant really predict what will cause it or when I will get it.  I have also been a lot more tired lately but oh man the nesting thing has been on overdrive, its like Im tired but yet have a million things I HAVE to do or my head will explode

Gender? a lil boy, Landon Matthew

What I miss? drinking wine with dinner

What I'm looking forward to? meeting this sweet baby!! He will be here within the next 7 days!! If I don't go into labor on my own I will be induced next tuesday so either way I only have at most a week of waiting.  At my appointment yesterday I was almost 2 cm dilated and she said my cervix is really soft but didn't give me a %, baby is also at -2 station so at least he is dropping into the pelvis some

Weekly Wisdom: patience...all I have left to do is wait

Milestone: 7 days...or less!!

Emotions: beyond excited to have this baby, to meet him and see what he looks like and learn his little personality...what he likes and dislikes.  Im also really excited to see how hubby reacts to him and see how he reacts when meeting his son for the first time!

Ten on Tuesday

1. If you could watch only one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
oh this is so tough, Monsters Inc and Love and Basketball are two of my all time favorite favorite movies!!! Although i think if i only could watch one movie for the rest of my life I might get pretty bored with it no matter how much  I love it originally2. Let’s say someone wrote a screenplay about you; what actor/actress would you choose to play you and why?
I would choose Reese Witherspoon.  I just love her, she resembles me, and seems like such a sweet person, someone I could relate to in real life3. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in theaters?
I dont remember it but the first movie I saw in a theatre was Dumbo...apparently I was pretty fascinated with elephants or as i used to call them "Knee-noses" But that I remember seeing...I really dont know4. Did you ever make out at the back of a movie theater in middle school/high school?
nope never did, wasn't really my thing5. Are you a Netflix-er, Blockbuster-er or a Redbox-er? (Or none of the above?)
Redbox for sure, although I wish they had better selection sometimes...I actually don't rent movies all too often but Hubby rents Redbox movies all the time partly due to the fact that it is so convenient for him since there is one at his store6. Name one actor/actress who you would give anything to have a dinner date with.
I really cant think of anyone right now, she isn't really an actress but I love Carrie Underwood and would love to go to dinner with her she seems like someone I would get along with and have a good time hanging out with7. What’s the worst movie you’ve ever seen?
hmm, this is hard because I have seen quite a few crappy ones8. Do you sneak snacks into the theater when you go?
every time! I always bring my own water and even though we usually get popcorn and a frosty I like to bring my own candy9. Movie theater popcorn: love or hate it?
LOVE!! Especially with butter and that seasoning stuff...we don't go to the movies too often so when we do, we like to indulge10. What is the all-time best Disney movie in your opinion?
Oh I love Cinderella, hands down one of my favorites!!

Nursery

The nursery is finally about as finished as it is going to be before Landon gets here.  There are a few things that will be added over time but I suppose that is the case with any room.  We originally hadn't planned on using these colors but I was silly and waited to order the bedding i had originally wanted and the result was the fabric she used being discontinued.  So since we had already painted the walls based on the blue in the previous bedding I had the task of finding something non-cheesy or feminine that matched the same blue...let me tell you, that was quite the task!! In the end though, I love it!! I love the contrast the red gives and I have always been a fan of red and light blue together.

The letters were a baby shower gift and are from Pottery Barn Kids

the curtains are from Target and are actually a little darker in person

frame cluster, the beautiful frame with the cross was a baby shower gift and the shadow box up top was a baby shower gift as well...the rest were either made by me or acquired at different times.  For now, the frames mostly all have printed papers in them and there are two blank shadow boxes on the bottom all of which will eventually have actual stuff in them.  The stroller is the Uppababy Vista (I love love love it and cant wait to use it!!!!)

I would like to put some decorative things on top of the hutch but am not sure what I want to put yet.  This is a view looking in from the door

Hubby is a HUGE Notre Dame fan and insisted on putting this over the door, I guess the  Notre Dame football players always touch a sign like this before leaving the locker room before games

This is a view looking out from the window, eventually I will put a glider in that space but...never sit in a chair you cant afford...the glider will have to wait as it is slightly out of our price range right now...but I will be saving up for it!! Also I have one more art piece that is going to go on that blank space of wall, it just hasn't come in yet.
I love how the nursery turned out, its simple with room to grow/change over time, and now I cant wait to bring my sweet baby home to see it and put it to use!!

37w5d

How far along? 37 weeks 5 days

Baby's size? about the size of a Swiss Chard?

Weight Gain? 23 lbs still

Maternity clothes? a few tops and my capri pants, but Im definitely running out of things to wear...I have some maxi dresses from Forever 21 that I could live in

Stretch marks? not a single one

Belly button in or out? definitely out

Sleep? sleep is good but I usually wake up with sore hips and back, and when I wake up I have to pee so bad its painful!!

Foods I am loving? Ive had a major sweet tooth lately!!

Foods I am hating? nothing really

Best moment this week? Landon flipping over!! Also finishing the nursery

Movement? All the time and sometimes its a little painful, the kid acts like he still has all the room in the world and tries to move and wiggle like he did when he was 20 something weeks...this results in a very alien like appearance to my belly at times...I think this little guy is gonna keep us very very busy!!

Symptoms? my lower back has started to be more achy since he flipped head down, and I just feel big...also I love orange juice but it has started to give me heart burn boooo

Gender? a lil boy, Landon Matthew

What I miss? not having to do laundry every 3 days because I have nothing to wear

What I'm looking forward to? My last week of work this week!! I had already been taken off the schedule next week because I was thinking I needed a c section on May 17....well I don't need one anymore but I figure it will be nice to have a week to rest and get any last minute things done before my due date

Weekly Wisdom: God is in control of this whole situation, not me, and I need to have faith that He knows whats best and its all in His hands.

Milestone: 2 weeks...or less!!

Emotions: so excited i just want the next two weeks to go by fast...I know he could come before 2 weeks but he seems nice and cozy in there and I don't think he is going to come out until he is evicted (I wont go past my due date since it would only mean he gets bigger and increases my chances of needing a c section so they will induce me if I don't go into labor naturally  by then , also I don't want to go past my due date because there are some scary complications that post date babies can run into)  Im also a little scared not of labor or any of that actually that doesnt scare me at all, but, I had some scary admissions at work this past week and I just pray that this baby is born healthy!!

The weather here in Houston was beautiful today!!!2. Do you like the zoo?

Yes, I love coconut.  Fresh coconut, and artificial flavored coconut stuff4. Have you ever hammered a nail? Are you good at it?
Why yes, I am quite the handy woman, I even have my pink tool set that probably gets more use than hubbys big manly toolbox

No, i wish we did though, maybe we need to find some place and start a family tradition6. How many pillows do you sleep with?

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Go pee, usually by the time I wake up I have to pee so bad i can hardly walk!!
8. Will you send your kids to summer camp?
Probably, I have some of the best summer memories of summer camp, and Im sure hubby will want our son to go to some sort of sports camp when he is old enough... he's already talking about it haha!!9. What do you put in your baked potatoes?
I have not had a baked potatoes in so long but when I do I like, in this order, butter-sour cream-shredded cheese-salt10. Did you take swimming lessons as a kid?
Yes, a few times, I never liked it though, and I remember the one time the instructor giving me a hard time because He said I didn't have enough meat on my bones since I couldn't float right or something, I still remember that

I'm Katie a 27 year old mommy and wife. Welcome to my blog where I will chronicle the happenings of my life as I find the balance between being both SAHM by day and CVICU nurse by night.

I love Jesus and strive to be more like Christ every day. Running, reading, and cooking are some of my favorite past-times. I love photography but I am no pro, but it helps I have such a cute subject to practice on!!
